Unless a HS coach's continued employment at a Georgia HS school is made contingent on him being at least neutral or mandated to steer his HS athletes to in-state colleges and universities, as we might like that to happen and it's not likely to, they will continue to try to direct and persuade their players to go to the university where they chose to play.
Much as I hate the fact, neutrality won't ever exist for some of these coaches!
It's just a fact of life, especially with this HS coach. And that's seemingly a big obstacle for UGA with Mickey Conn at Grayson.
Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my perspective.
From what I've heard of folks in the area, the coach doesn't push Alabama as much as many of us make him out to do. Although I'm sure he bleeds crimson, I understand he's a high morality, high ethics kinda guy, and I heard that from dawgs. I don't personally know, never met him. Regardless, if he didn't choose UA, I'm sure UGA would get about the least amount of resistance from his UA ties among SEC alternatives. Just imagine anyone in the west, or UT. No tider I know would settle with that.
Tack on Adams, too.
Name one kid that was highly recruited of Conn's that has not gone to Bama? Robert's brother was not a high recruit IMO. Every "star" kid he has goes to Bama.
So do we have a chance because it looked like he started to look closer at us at the end of the year.
Could it be a jordan jenkins type situation win and get closer
Has he visited the campus yet? Isn't he like 30 minutes away down 78?
I don't buy the idea a Highschool coach can control where a kid goes. The highschool player has a brain and can make his own decisions in life. When I was 18, I made my own decisions, and didn't need adults telling me what to do.
Well, actually pretty much all big name stars in Alabama ARE steered relentlessly to either Auburn or Alabama.
One thing I get out of this thread is that once again, apparently all Kirby Smart can do on the recruiting trail is bring up negativity. You would think with all the accomplishments that he has at least helped achieved at Bama, that it is the one school that doesn't have to go negative. However, I guess it is hard for an elephant to change its skin.
