I heard almost every interview of his (he posts where he is doing interviews on his facebook page) and not once did I hear him say uga would go 8-0. He said UGA could be a surprise team, but a number of things had to go in our favor for that to happen. Of course he had no clue that AJ Green would be suspended for 4 games. Phil Steele is very good at what he does and how he talked about UGA last year isn't the same way he is talking about us this year.

He did, but I think did it based more on statistics of Richt's teams after "disappointing" seasons the year prior. He also made those comments before he knew AJ was going to be out for the first 4 games. We have AJ for the first four, I think that we split with Arky and SCU, and we beat MSU and CU. His prediction wouldn't have been that far off had that been the case.

  • Call it negativity if you wish, I am waiting to see it on the field before I get too excited about Richt's 11 campaign. I got us going 8-4/ 7-5; I think we have the talent to compete for the SECE, but Richt has had much better talent in the previous six years and not made it to Atlanta. Put me in the "I'll believe it, when I see it" camp.

That's fair. I can't fault you for taking the "wait and see" approach this season. There have been disappointments in major areas in each of the last three seasons, so I think that's definitely a reasonable stance.

Hopefully this is one of those seasons where the preseason dreams come true.

I agree with your statement "I believe it, when I see it" but I will also say that this is a very different team then the past squads. I know, I know everyone says that. But I don't say that, this team is freaken loaded with untapped talent. I don't neccessarily agree with the statements some of these guys are saying about wanting to win for Richt's and that they owe it to Richt's to win. This team is not full of 4 and 5 year seniors that have been in the trenches with Richt's since day one so I don't buy it. This is what I mean when I say that what we have been lacking is SWAGGER. I gotta be honest with you guys, I don't care to hear about all the reasons why we should win ball games I'm just ready to see this new generation of Dawgs put their hats on someone. I am feeling kind of intense right now so I am going to give a couple of pep talks to some folks. back out now if you don't want to hear this.
    1. Isaiah Crowell-- I have disected your high school film and watched you destroy linebackers and skill players. You are the future of the Bulldog nation, and in my book when you signed that commitment letter we all signed it with you. All we ask as ravenous Dawgs is that when you get the ball you fight for every inch you can get, e-v-e-r-y s-i-n-g-l-e p-l-a-y.

    2. Aaron Murray-- Partner you are a natural ball player, We both have something in common, I also played my high school football in Florida so I know the level of competition down there. I have been watching you play ball for years and there is no question about your talent. What we need is a vocal leader who talks a big game then goes out and embaresses cornerbacks. There is no doubt in any of our minds that you are that man, keep doing what your doing and we will ride on your back all the way to the National Championship.

    3. Offense of line-- You boys have something to prove! I can't tell you how many times I have heard in the last couple of months that you guys are the weakest link. This should infuriate you, I was just looking at the statistics on all of our offense of line and it is sick!! If you guys play together and keep to your assignments Samuel, Crowell and Murray may never get touched. Our season starts up front so don't listen to the critics just put your heads down and blow up anything that gets in your way.

    4. Richard Samuel-- You are a beast! and personally I am expecting HUGE things out of you. To have the advantage of knowing personally what a linebacker does gives you a major advantage. Your mentality should be no different then if you were in prison. On that first play of scrimage go out and find the biggest guy on the field and absolutely crush him. 6 foot 2 243lbs are you kidding me! Believe me when I say I can't wait to watch you play.

    5. Deffense-- If there is anything we are holding our breaths about it's you. We know you guys are smart, can tackle, the secondary looks great, and big Jenkins is going to be a monster in the middle. But I can guarantee you if you ask any ravenous Dawg what are deffense has been missing they will all say it's swagger. It's not something your taught, you can't coach it, and you can't convince a team to all the sudden get it. We will all know if you have on September 3 in OUR DOME! The night is set, we are coming in as a second rate football team, and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

    4. Richard Sanuel-- You are a beast! and personally I am expecting HUGE things out of you.

I wonder if we can line you up to do the pregame speech........................

Good stuff right there, and I think that most of us feel the same way. I am a Homer, have no doubts, but I feel that all of our perceived deficiencies (OL, WR, HB, secondary) can all really be strengths with the influx of new talent and with some veterans stepping up.

    1. We only have the three returning OL starters, but they are all solid. I know that there are questions about Bean and possible Burnette, but I think it clicks for Bean this year (if not he can provide depth at RG). Can we then find just one person to play RT (out of Austin Long, Watts, etc. ). I look forward to seeing the new blocking scheme with these guys firing off the ball and driving people off the ball. If Bean really gets it done this year, then I think the OL will be surprisingly good.

    2. We know that we lost AJ and Durham, but I truly believe that TKunodos, Marlon, and the others are ready. Orson can slide out in certain situations for mismatches, and Mitchell, Bennett, Wooten, and all the others should really give some good depth. I didn't leave Troupe out on purpose, I want him to show me he is ready.....

    3. HB as a weakness with the #1 back from the 2010 class? it seems to be perceived that way by many. I think Richard beats em to death and then Crowell runs over, around, and by them as they fatigue. The coaches seem pretty high on him so far, so I am fairly excited.

    4. I could write a small novel about the secondary, but I won't. I simply think that they will be so much better than last year. I think Boykin, and Sanders can really be relied upon, B. Smith seems to have become the player we all thought he could be and that new injection of talent should really provide for some great competition in the practices.

    Now, pass the koolaid!

I know that, but you don't think having him for the 4 games prior to that and allowing he and Murray to have more live game reps would not make a difference? I tend to disagree.
