Question of the day

  • Re: Jarvis Jones 2012

Where do you see him getting his playing time?

Will he mostly be a weakside linebacker to maximize his opportunities in the pass rush?

Will he split in-game 50/50 strongside and weakside in order to change up the personnel and to test/challenge for weaknesses within the opponents blocking schemes?

Will he be mostly weakside backer or mostly strongside backer based upon the type of offensive scheme/personnel we line up against (ie. mostly pass versus rush, spread the field versus bunch/I-Formation/etc).

From what I've read throughout the blogs and if it holds true that CTG intends to mix his defensive schemes more this year utilizing players blitzing in a variety of mixed formations, I would guess more along the split 50/50, but that's just a guess.

  • Gotta think it's going to be a mix with our soft schedule and young talent. CTG will probably be structuring our depth chart during the weaker opponents.

Unless he tries to get him the Heisman, but I would think that's something to entice him to come back for his senior year.

It sounds like he's gotten a lot more work on the weakside this spring. But I'm thinking that is getting more player evaluations and building more depth behind him at strongside.

I don't expect the defense to run "scripted" plays to start a game. But I do believe that Grantham will test all sorts of pressures on an offense early to gauge chinks in the blocking schemes.
