Story: Crowell arrested on three charges

  • scrambledawg said...

First, you didn't hear it; you read it. Second, I know 100s of folks who carry. All boast of it and, sadly, all cite times during which they felt compelled to flash their piece to ward off some mysterious threat. The real irony? I'm with many of them often and have never felt threatened enough to need a weapon. Walking the other way (metaphorically) works every time.

You'll pardon me if I call you full of shit. You don't know hundreds of people that carry, and they certainly all don't boast about flashing their piece. More likely, you're just another ignorant liberal who stereotypes everybody who owns a gun... and not surprisingly, has a naive worldview.

I'm not a liberal in the sense you imply, but thanks for playing. "All" flash is certainly hyperbolic in nature and an obvious exaggeration. I grew up on a farm and have discharged weapons for sport and out of necessity plenty. I'm not squeamish about it , nor do I begrudge folks their right to own one. In my family's case, it was necessary to protect and manage livestock. I just tire of the constant refrain my the vast majority of gun owners that:

    1) They're safer because they carry - they're not
    2) Gun ownership reduces crime - it does not

You and I can agree to disagree on this and it won't hurt my feelings a bit. Again, it's your right to own/carry. It's my right to parody the majority of paranoid idiots who do carry and to ensure inconvenient facts stay in the way of their narrative.

Gun ownership does reduce crime. That's a fact. And I don't care what you want to call yourself, your extremely flawed view of people that carry and carrying in general reveals you as a liberal. Your theory that "walking the other way" solves ever problem reveals you as both a liberal and naive.

Just because you grew up in a rural area and have never had a need for protection doesn't mean other people don't have legitimate and necessary reasons for doing so. So you're narrow-minded on top of all that.

I'm with you Hobnailed.. Interesting story about a little town called Kennesaw who REQUIRES the head of households to carry a firearm.

  • I'm glad my show isn't tonight. It will allow a few days for all of the facts to come out and for me to calm down.

With that being said, IC doesn't fit the mold of the current UGA player. I say it's time to cut bait. Sure, there is the argument of innocent until proven guilty. However, all you have to do is follow him on twitter and you know exactly what I mean. I've tried to be his biggest fan and release positive stuff about him. Hell, everyone around him has said the right things for him. But, it's time to face the facts.

Could this damper the hopes of a National Championship this year? Certainly. However, it strengthens the hopes of many National Championships in future years.

I am not basing all of this off of the gun accusations this morning. There are a myriad of things that I can point to. Again, just go read his twitter account. That will give you a good idea of who he is. It's sad and I hope he turns it around. However, he needs to turn it around in JUCO or at another college.

    Flame away.

  • Not so fast my friends.. Conspiracy theory here.

IC claimed he didn't know the gun was in the car, right? Call him a liar? Maybe. But if I knew I had an illegal gun in my car, I wouldn't consent to a search. Just sayin. How about fingerprinting the weapon. If he's got no prints on there he's in the clear right? Right?

G, you should get on that. Justice must be served, lol.

  • It makes me sick how the ACCPD are only concerned with harassing students. Without the university here the police force would probably be half of what it is! Yet all they want to do is hang around downtown and bother students. Yeah, that's going after the real crime here.

By putting a road block on East Campus Rd at Green St they are obviously targeting people who would be traveling from downtown to East Campus. One guess as to the only group of students that are at East Campus during summer break. That's right, athletes.

I believe Gentry wrote previously about how different of a ball game it is between Athens and Tuscaloosa when it comes to these things. As a matter of fact, there is a huge difference between South GA and Athens when it comes to the police. When I came up here for college it blew my mind how much the police want to bother people (ESPECIALLY students).

That sucks. He was an awesome RB for y'all with HUGE potential. I enjoyed watching him play.

If he's released from the team, does this mean Ole Miss will go after him?

BhamDawg; this is going to sound crazy, I lived in Alabama my entire life and never heard of this, but you do not need a weapons license to open-carry in Alabama. It sounds absurd but it is true.

If you want to, you can walk around anywhere in Alabama with a pistol on your hip as long as it is in a holster, not concealed, and in an area or business that does not have signs prohibiting the carry of firearms. What kind of mindset a person is in to feel the need to walk around with a pistol strapped to their hip, I do not know.

    See the link

    I stand corrected.
