Just passed by the Jail and Fox5 was doing a live interview with a Policeman in the parking lot..Started to dart in and roll down the window, but thought better.

  • might save a life or lives down the road with this arrest...maybe they will learn a lesson from this.....being in a bar late at night is asking for trouble...they needs to learn that birds of a feather flock together...

  • I 100% agree! Read my comment on the news article about his arrest.

The sad thing is, I bet the officer was DYING to find someone once he realized the occupants were UGA football players. Makes me sick.

  • ACCPD don't have the revenue that you guys think they do.

UGA owns a lot of the property in Athens but they are tax exempt. That's a large population to police without the financial backing that usually comes with it.

I see where you're coming from, but money should NOT be motivation for enforcing the law... That being said, I understand the reason it often is, I just think it's unethical. JMO

  • I can't believe the police are taking guns with the serial numbers removed (stolen) off the streets at 3 am. How dare them? They should be ate the doughnut shop not getting felons off the street.

The question, in my mind, isn't whether or not they should have arrested him for the gun, but if it weren't a UGA football player would the car have been searched in the first place.

If you know a single THING about Athens, you know that the crime here is NOT on East Campus Road. Setting up a roadblock there is targeted directly at students. Funny thing is, the arresting officer probably wouldn't have a job here if it weren't for the students and the university.

And the gun is probably stolen, but that does not mean the possessor did the stealing. Use some logic here. Unless you are the Superior Court judge with ALL of the facts, shut the fack up. No one cares about your opinion.

Read the article--they were stopped at a police checkpoint and smelled marijuania in the car. EVERY Single person would search the car when they smell dope. Let me guess they are making the part about the dope up too. Try going through a checkpoint tonight after smoking dope and let me know if they check your car. They weren't checking for guns, they were checking for dope and found the gun. Was it IC's gun, who knows. If it was one of the OTHER FOOTBALL players then they should have admitted it. So either IC owes someone else on the football team and butt whipping or it was his.

Yes they were probably targeting students. That doesn't make a bit of difference. Why do cops sit outside of bars? To catch people leaving. Why are they all driving around at 2am because thats when the bar closes. If he didn't have a gun he doesn't get arrested. Very Simple. Quit blaming everyone else. Its his fault or someone else in the car. If they don't confess to it, it falls on him. So he either needs to tell whose gun it was (which he didn;t) or take the heat.

You should not post stuff while driving.

They're Nazi's for enforcing the law? The police routinely setup check points around Athens, especially on nights when they think the number of intoxicated driver's will be higher so they can get them off the road. Crowell's arrest and dismissal has nothing to do with ACC Police. Crowell failed to use good judgement and its nobody's fault but his own.

I can tell you this and i work at the clarke county jail. thursday nights we already know that the police are going to be out and about looking for anyone they can bring in. Its sad to say but they target UGA students. Thats all they bring in. Its sad that UGA has kicked him off the team without him even going to court but i can not blame CMR. IC put himself in a bad spot. I would like to know if the gun was in an area that he could reach it. Ive dropped my phone under my seat a few times and not been able to get it. I just hate to see this kid end up at another SEC school like ZM.

Its illegal for cops to set outside bars waiting on people. But they do it. UGA has their own police department but some reason ACCPD needs to set up road blocks. Kid had just left the Club but did not get charged with a dui. Which tells me that he wasn't drinking or high. I wonder how many 19 year old college students can say that.
