This defense is becoming very good...

  • only 1 TD allowed in the last 3 games.

    The DL is really allowing the LB to make plays.

    We dropped 4 INT today, 3 that potentially could have returned for TD's.

    Secondary I think is playing very well, but we need to make those plays against Tenn,UF,Auburn

  • This defense can be scary good come time for Fl. when Tree comes back. Many people said just look over to Ala when it comes to the transition of the defense to 3-4 and how long it takes to play well in it. We play so much faster now. I don't mean to already look to next year but a 2nd year in the new strength/cond. and a 3rd year of running the 3-4 and we will be a top 3 defense next year with all we have coming back.

  • Defense played great today!!!!! Cornelius played the best game in his career at UGA. I loved the pressure and the run stopping that the Defense showed today. I hope that we can play like this next week and stop Bray and Co. I hope that we can play a lil more bump and run on the receivers to jam them off their routes.. Great play today Grantham and Defense. The progress is showing now and we are making opposing teams take notice now. Go Dawgs!!! GATA!!! Valley

  • Of course its too early to look towards next season. But I'll do it anyway.

    We'll be stacked with 4th and 5th year players at 10 starting positions (and the one position that we won't... Will be alec ogletree).

    It will certainly be a challenge to makeup the big playmaking loss of a boykin. But color me excited. The next 16 months are going to be nasty for opposing teams' offenses.

  • I have been a big critic when it comes to the OL and DL! But in the first half of the game we absolutly whiped MSU on both sides of the ball if we can play like that the rest of the season i DO NOT see us loosing another game this season!!!!!!!! But we half to do a better job in the second half! I havent seen us play that well on both sides of the ball in a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Don't see alot of love for Gilliard these days. Always around the ball and a sure tackler. Love B. Smith but he may be the weakest link in the secondary.

    Next year the D should b stout... With atleast 9 or 10 returning starters we should be one of the tops n the country. But we need to focus on this year and getting by Tenn next week. If the D can make plays like they have the past 2 weeks. I love how Jenkins is coming along. I think next year Jenkins and Geathers will be on the field at the same time all game. But he is makin plays now and learning the defense. Gilliard is a ball hawk. I agree with you SW Dawg he is one of the sure tacklers that we have especially in space. I hope to get Swann back next week. I like his size against the Tenn wideouts. But we need for Commings and Boykin to shut dwn Rogers next week. I hope we have Commings shadowing him the entire game. I really think B. Smith should be a nickel corner rather than a boundary guy just bc of his lack of size. I think that he can moke more plays n that area of the field. Only if he can improve his tackling. Just so small. Just my thoughts.... Great game Defense, hopefully we can get the O and Special teams to follow ur lead next week and play a complete game.   • CW played great! Saw him just completely demolish his blocker and drilled Relf! Great play, keep it going CW. The whole defense reminds me of our Defense in the past. Think we might be getting our mojo back! Starting to look more to watching our D play than the O. Thought Crowell made some good tuff runs. The line in the first half blocked well and it is fun watching Figgins lead block. The announcer made the statement about Bruising Bruce was like having an extra guard pulling! And when they all get healthy? Wow. Go Get'em Dawgs, Sic'em.

  • Grantham is really earning his paycheck. The MSU game reminded me of the Richt early years. Dominating D and ok offense. The scary thing is that we don't have a lot of depth right now, missing really two healthy leaders on D, and the offense has YET to hit full stride. IF we return our defense minus Boykin of course and continue to add good quality depth, this could be a scary team next year.
