What in God's name are you talking about?
2011: #6 composite rating (that's an average of the industry rankings), 12 4&5 star players
2012: #5 composite rating, 10 4&5 star players
2013: #13 composite rating, 15 4&5 star players
Only the '02, '06, '08, and '09 classes had 15 or more 4&5 star players. Each of those classes played an integral part in seasons where we either played in the SEC championship or finished as one of the top 5 teams in the country.
There is absolutely no reason for alarm because we missed out on two top prospects in the '13 class at the last minute. A lot of the kids in the GA top 20 from that class were either never realistic possibilities or were much lower on our coaches board than yours. 2013 was one of the deepest and most balanced classes that UGA has had in some time, and they met their needs with a slew of quality players. Finally, worrying about how the '14 class will shake out 11 months from NSD is about as pointless as screaming at your television because the pope you wanted didn't get selected.
It's nothing more than your perspective, it's far from the truth. Take a look at the chart below, 97% of college teams would drool to have this potential depth chart across the 2011 to 2013 recruiting classes:
Claiming to be "realistic" doesn't make your point valid, nor does it mean you're anything other than pessimistic about the situation. The '11 - '13 classes have brought in more talent than any combined 3 year stretch in the Richt era, whether you want to recognize it or not.
I ran an analysis on the players that we've recruited since '02 and found that roughly 65% of the 5-stars turn into multi-year starters, 50% of 4-stars, and 35% of 3-stars.
Isn't the past class the only one Richt didn't have a top 10 class. That would make it the worst in the Richt era. I wasn't saying it was horrible it just wasn't half as good as it should've been. I know it's VERY early but this class is looking any better. I understand some saying stars and rankings don't matter but they must or South Carolina would be winning all the championships with their 3tar guys and not bama with all their 5stars
