Piggybacking on the Quincy Mauger story from yesterday ...
How do you feel about a true freshman (or JUCO signee) starting at safety this year?
Will a true freshman be ready for what is asked of him?
Does it simply have to happen?
Does the reward justify the risk, especially given a tough September schedule?

"....All I ask is that he be loyal to Georgia, proud of that jersey, and try like the devil to win." --- Wally Butts
if a true freshman is the best player then so be it. GO DAWGS!
It scares the crap out of me to start a freshman at safety against Boyd,Shaw(Thompson) and Zach Mett in 3 of the 1st 4 games.
As good as Swann is, he got smoked early last year. He became a playmaker 7 or 8 games in but by 7 or 8 games in, we will have played 3 top 10 teams.
Playing a freshman also probably means we aren't as complex in our schemes and being more vanilla takes heat of the opposing QB.
It is what it is but it scares me
