  • Awesome. If healthy, I think Malcome is going to find a lot of ways to contribute this fall. Good to hear about the steps up for Swann and Wilson as well.

I've been telling people for some time now, that Swann is a really good player and B. Smith may find himself in the 3rd corner role once again when all the suspensions are over...

  • I think I'm in the minority that sees Branden Smith taking that big step forward like Rambo 2 seasons ago and Boykin last season.

He showed flashes of being a Boykin type corner last season. I think the Dawgnation will be very happy with the hard work he has put in.

I agree that Smith made drastic improvements last year from his first couple of seasons and definitely became a much more physical player. I hope that progression continues! I just think what seperates Swann is his ability to break and make plays on the football. Competition is a great thing and brings out the best in most people.

I feel very confident (barring injuries) in Rambo, Williams, Commings, Smith, Swann, and Mitchell (in a limited role) with smaller contributions from Norman, Moore, and Bowman. The dismissals certainly hurt depth, but I don't think our secondary is in as dire straights as some have made it out to be...

  • I think our secondary will be great and the defensive line barring injuries will be the best in the country!!!

  • I feel like Branden Smith has all the ability God can give one individual, but I'm not sure if he's overconfident at times or if he shows a lack of understanding his role in a given defensive set. I saw a particular instance in the UF game this year when Shawn Williams looks to be telling Branden that he had help over the top, meaning B Smith should be covering shorter routes and the flats. And what does Branden do? As soon as the ball is snapped he back pedals four to five steps and gave up a critical 3rd down conversions, I believe if he can minimize the number of mental lapses we see from he really could be one of the best corners in the country.

  • I love to see the outstanding walk-on award for offense go to a FB! What's the word on Merritt Hall? I would love to see him continue tradition of FB walk-ons turned starters!
