We now are...

  • Starting to build some great depth on both the offensive and defensive lines in this recruiting class. In total, we have 9 commits to each line.

    A small breakdown:

    Offensive Line commits: 4
    Average height: 6'5 and 1/4"
    Average weight: 309.25 lbs

    Defensive Line commits: 5
    Average height: 6' 3 and 1/2"
    Average weight-
    DEs: 240 lbs
    DTs: 310 lbs

And these guys will only get bigger. I call that some scary line size.

Size does not necessarily euate to domination. I read an interesting article earlier this yr. that stated the Dawgs had ther biggest O-line in the land this yr. with an average size of 329lbs. per man, 2nd was the Cincinnati Bengals.

  • We need to dodge the grade, injury and attrition problems of the past..Also, we need a safe weight lifting season.

  • I keep hearing a lot about Brandon Green its seems he is very interested in UGA i don't know if he flips or not would love to steal one from Bama if we have no chance at Lee .

  • the other thing that we're missing most of the time is TRUE offensive tackles who can play that position in college. Beard may be a different deal because he's done it, at least to some degree, at the JUCO level. Many kids who come out of high school simply are not equipped to handle the job once they get to college. notice this though..........theus is from florida. beard is a juco. pyke is from maryland. chester brown is the only kid from georgia, but he is not projecting as an OT. Pyke is projecting as a guard. Theus and Beard are the only true OT guys going forward. That is simply not adequate based on the fact that we've had horrible luck with regard to career ending injuries.

last year we got Ward, but he was never going to play early anyway. he has a good frame, but he needs probably at least another year to get himself in shape to play at this level. plus he is going to spend a lot of time in 2012 rehabbing that acl injury.

dantzler looks to be shaping into a quality OT, and he has that size to do it.

debell has a good frame, but he also needs to add weight and to get those all important reps. can he become another really good bookend to dantzler? maybe.

i am just a believer that we need 4 healthy offensive tackles all the time. 2 won't get it, and 3 aren't much better.

part of the problem has been who we recruited, and the other part has been just plain bad luck. we have to rise above this situation and overcome it, but i think the way we do it is to have a slight overage in our numbers.

notice, though, that the state of georgia does not produce that many true offensive tackles.

  • No no my friends, coach T is doing a wonderful job. I rather have 5 men who went throught the fire than a bunch of pillow tops. This was the 1st year in a while we wasn't pushed around like rag dolls

Could not have said it better, got to continue to work as hard as the bama's and the LSU's. If the players can't cut it(Benedict), don't let the door hit you on the way out. These SEC championships and such are won during the off-season.

  • I'll take five mean tough strong guys up front. Don't care what their rankin is!

  • Look we r gna b fine with our oline recruits Frm here on out I believe. The problem with the talent we had before I think equates to the lack of recruiting by Searels. Honestly I'm glad that he is at Texas and away Frm UGA. I dnt think he brought the toughness and discipline that these kids need to learn how to b a dawg. I feel that coach Friend is changing that mold. He is bringing the most out of these guys every week and they're fighting on every dwn. Friend has a gd hold on what we need for a dominant oline. Go dawgs!!!
