With Rodney Garner gone, Georgia now has an important hire to make. What's the plan for the staff and search? Here's a way-too-early list of names that could make some sense.

This is not a lateral move for Garner because it's his alma mater. Any other school and I would say yes it would be. By the way Gentry, nice work on compiling this list. This is the only site I've seen that even speculated at who could replace Garner. Nice job and a nice read.
"HOW BOUT THEM DAWGS"
why would a minority hire be "preferred"? what does that have to do with it? find the best person regardless. i don't care if you hire the Dalai Lamai. Just get the best person, stop worrying about the status of someone.
Minority coaches have an easier time relating to most young prospects. They are usually a little more up on the latest trends. Nothing negative in this post just the way it is. With that being said...Tracy Rocker.
I agree with a minority hire. Simply put, most of the kids these days we are recruiting are minority kids...who better relates to them than another minority person. Think about it, they are gonna spend 3 to 4 years coaching, confiding, and mentoring these young men. A minority person is probably gonna come from the same background or can relate to the same background as the person they are recruiting. A minority person is probably gonna bond better with family members...and then let CMR or CTG seal the deal. The key is to make these kids feel comfy.
Minority coach makes sense here with me. Kids like playing for coaches that looks like them. Don't forget why jj said he went to USC. He looked at Ken Norton jr. As a role model and mentor.
It needs to be quick, given the fact that we're in the midst of a busy recruiting season.
Good choices in Rumph, Daniels, but I would not be too worried about Jones after reading that link, and Rocker would be a real steal. Great list. Lot of good options.
This may have been discussed on other threads, but... we have been slow to offer too many times so I hope a change improves this. And we miss on top DL too often. Even Lawson to AU is weird since Garner was going to be his coach here and was slow to offer/appreciate the guy. Ironic. But lets do this quick get a great coach and move forward. Like azzkicker said... improve, use as an advantage.
