What's your feelings on landing M. Davis?

  • Our insiders think he is favoring us right now and I would LOVE to get him. I'm not very optimistic. Don't know why but I'm not. Supposedly J. Davis (his brother) has no love loss for Clemson so he's not pushing him to Clemson, maybe even pushing him to not go to Clemson. Clemson's starting running back looks to be going pro so that leaves Mike Bellamy on their roster. You guys have Crowell, signed Marshall and are in the game for Gurley. Any feelings on your position with Mike Davis?

  • Davis looked real powerful in the AA game. I think he is game ready now, but the problem we have had with RB's lately is their pass pro. If you can't pass pro then you don't get in Bobo's backfield.
I've heard that Gurley is a lean to us and that will be just fine. If so looks like you guys are in good shape with Davis. I think that the pieces start falling into place on Friday.

Life's tough, but it is tougher if you're stupid.

  • I think if Gurley commits Friday, Davis is yalls to lose bro......

I have been saying and this is just my opinion that I would rather have Davis than Gurley. I think that showed in the all-star game. He is ready to play now. I have seen film on both of them and he is powerful and elusive at the same time. Also, if you notice how good he blocks. He really gets blocking and the schemes. I like Davis a lot.

  • Honestly I see Davis going USCjr if Gurley goes Red and black. But don't count Clemson out for either Bellamy is a cancer in the eyes of Clemson he is as close to mike dyer as they come well minus the on field greatness he has tremendous potential but he is a off field pain. They are already saying on tiger net that Gurley is a Clemson tiger and Davis is a cock

  • I honestly think we are the team to beat for Davis. Our insiders have maintained that stance for a couple of weeks now. He would be a great compliment to Lattimore. I don't think it is out of the question that he could commit this weekend when he visits.

  • If Gurley commits to UGA, go ahead and pick a jeresy out for him. UGA will cut Davis off at that point. Ya you guys certainly need to find the next Lattimore after next year.

No disrespect meant by this but I don't think Davis is going to UGA regardless of what Gurley does. You never know in recruiting because it is never black and white but I feel really good about Davis since our insiders have kept the same stance.

A lot of that is because our insiders have kept the same stance...that we land gurley first.

We can agree to disagree but I don't think the Gurley decision has much impact.

if south carolina and georgia are his top 2, I don't know how Gurley's decision can't have an impact. He's already stated he is looking at current rosters, playing time. I'm not saying he still wouldn't choose the gamecocks if gurley didn't choose georgia but I'd think it crosses his mind and makes him think more.

My point is I don't see him going to Georgia even if Gurley doesn't because he isn't going to want to sit behind Crowell and Marshall. He is the same class as Marshall and I just don't see it. Again, I could be wrong and I will own up to it if I am. If he comes to Carolina he can play a lot and right away more than likely.

Georgia wouldn't be in his top picks if he wasn't considering it. I think Gurley has a huge impact. He has already made the comment it doesn't matter if Crowell is there or if Marshall is coming that he isn't afraid of competition. But if Gurley commits then it could get a little to crowded for him.

I'm by no means saying he is afraid of competition but think about it. One of those backs will get redshirted. Would you want to sit behind and wait and wait your turn if you are good enough to play? That is all I'm saying.

True...you have a point. I'm glad we can have some discussion without it getting out of hand.

  • Jeff you and Davidson are folks that cheer for who we feel are the wrong team, but you don't come over here crowing (pun intended) about your ascension to the dynasty level. For that, this Dawg and many others are very thankful. And to top it off yo are knowledgeable about your team and inquisitive about ours and our opinions. So with the civility you have in my opinion you're welcome any time over here.

I appreciate that. I always lurk on other SEC 247 boards and enjoy discussion when it presents itself.

    Davidson is a Junkyard VIP.

Jeff also discusses football rationally and honestly.

Most of the Barnyard Syndicate posters are pretty level headed guys. I think 50% of the problems stem from UGA fans not willing to recognize them as legitimate challengers. We got used to beating them regularly ....even on a bad day. Those days are gone.

As for Mike Davis......I have no idea. I think he wants to play early. I also think he fits into the system at South Carolina. He is hard nosed and enjoys contact.

Like Roaddawg said, Davis already said that Marshall's commitment doesn't affect his decision on UGA. The current depth here is already known to him, and we are in his top two. Gurley committing would change the depth situation, so I don't know how you can say it will make no difference.

Guys it doesn't matter, I want them all which would mean Thomas is the odd man out. I think Malcolm has shown his potential and worth and is worth keeping around, but imagine having Marshall, Crowell, Davis, Gurley and Malcolm for the next couple of years, man oh man, and then there's Samuel. Talk about depth

Not to mention Henry and the absolutely loaded in state class of RB's in 2013. Good lord man!

I think that USC probably does lead for Davis at this point, but I agree that the Gurley commitment to the Dawgs will seal the deal with Davis to the Cocks. If we end up with Marshall and Gurley then I will be extremely happy with our RB recruiting for this year. I also would almost hope that one of them could red-shirt to gain strength and experience within our system, but considering our lack of depth, that may not be possible.

I think Georgia is in this more than you think, but in the end you will be correct. I don't see us landing Davis. If Gurley goes to Clemson, we will put a full court press on Davis and we have some damn good recruiters so we could get him, but I think either way he is going out of state and has planned to all along.

  • I think Clemson tries to pursue Gurley now more than they were before because Ellington is rumored to be going pro.

I think Davis is a SC-UGA battle as most on here have said. I also think that we could still get Davis even if Gurley goes to UNC or Clemson(which I believe are in his final 3).

I think Davis would start for you guys next year. Marshall and Crowell to me are the same kind of backs. They are speed backs. Davis is a power rusher but also have speed. From this year, it is obvious(at least to me) that Crowell cant take the pounding of being an everyday back. Marshall from what I have seen of him is similar to Crowell(same body mold). Davis is more built and stronger in-between the tackles than both of those.

I think Davis could redshirt next year(95% he wont) do to have Lattimore, Wilds, Carson, and Miles back and then have 2-3 years to start at USC and be the lead back. That wont happen at UGA. You guys have Marshall and Henry coming in 2013. Not saying Davis isnt a hard-worker but SC only gets 1 good back every 2-3 years while it seems UGA is getting 5-star RBs a lot lately.
