He is top 15 right now but if he leaves, that's as high as he goes. If he comes back and we win 20+ games and get to the NCAA's, he will go way up in the rankings.

All had better careers than KCP SO FAR. That's why I said he needs to return. He could be our best ever.

Willie Anderson? (He had a brother, Shandon, who also played at Georgia and in the pros. At the moment, however, I've forgotten the first name of the "better" brother. Timeframe at UGA was late '80s.)

1b. Jumaine Jones
2. Carlos Strong
3. DA Layne
4. Rashad Wright
5. KCP

If KCP stays he can move up the list.

Edit: Green and Kessler were both in my lifetime. But I was a toddler. The first year I remember bball was 1992-93. Which was Strong's Freshman year. And we had Big Charles Claxton.

Fair enough, but since the best ever phrase came up, do you think KCP could do that in coming back for just next year? I really doubt he passes up NBA money twice. Should he come back next year, it buys another year for Mann and Gaines to become above average SEC players without being the guys the defense keys in on.

Kessler led us to an SEC title. If KCP comes back and we dance, it will be because of him. Otherwise we struggle again. If he leaves a legacy like that, he shoots way up in my book

Sundiata Gaines has to be on the list.....Stats aside, YATA was a DGD and can play on my team any day. He got a team to the tourney with Dave Bliss as the 2nd best player on the team.

Good list. Would just add Jarvis Hayes, Willie Anderson (multi-time Olympian) and Shandon Anderson.

Kessler not only led the Dawgs to an SEC title, he did against Shaquille O'Neal in the title game.

Henderson wa an immediate sensation who became a one-and-done player.

Fleming was good enough to have a solid NBA career.

Fair will forever be known as the 6'7" center who took on three future NBA greats (James Worthy, Sam Perkins, and Michael Jordan) and led us to victory in the region finals against UNC on our wasy to the fianl four.

Greens carried the program on his back as a ball handler and scorer.

And Jacky Dorsey was a freshman sensation who unfortunatley left after his only year, too early for the NBA.

One other note: Lavon Mercer was a center who played four years in the late 70s - a good, serviceable player but not nearly as good as KCP. Apparently some people are confusing him with the more recent Mike Mercer.

With all that said, this year KCP has established himself as one of the all-time Dawg greats. On a team that has trouble scoring he is the only player who consistently produces points. And, as shown in the Ole Miss game, even when he hits a dry spell in scoring he shows terific leadership with encouragement and unselfishness.

I didnt follow UGA basketball until the mid 90s so I cant speak for the Final Four group but I did watch Dominique in the pros. The top 5 are...
1. Jarvis Hayes - A scoring machine although he was not as dangerous from outside. A true slasher.
2. KCP - Maybe not the scorer Trey Thompkins was but can score from anywhere.
3. Trey Thompkins
4. Jumaine Jones - played on some horrendous teams.
5. DA Layne - this spot is a toss up. Wright could be here and others. DA could really get hot though.

kcp's on an impressive run.... but if he leaves, he'll get treated more like moreno than green.

and for as great as kcp has been this year, he's not sniffing early first round talk at all. i think he could continue to move up. as it is, he's probably a 2nd rounder like thompkins and leslie before him. and then, he's a maybe to stay in the league longer than 3 years as is the case for so many 2nd rounders.

Shows how old I'm getting that I dismiss the opinion as pure poppycock. KCP is a good player, but he's not in the top 10 of UGA greats. Others have done a good job of naming the greats in the context of the eras in which they played , so I won't do that.
