I wanted to get some opinions on this, in the Georgia Auburn game right before half time we got the ball back with like 49 seconds to go I think, we were on Auburn's side of the field but I don't think we were very far from the 50 yard line (at this point in the game I was in a restaurant and didn't have a great angle on the t.v.) anyway with the way things had been going with A.J. and knowing how good of a leg Walsh has. Plus we were tied at 21, and really nothing to loose, did it surprise anyone that we didn't at least try and throw a couple of passes down the field to at least get in kicking range? It almost seemed like during the 1st and 2nd quarter we were playing very aggressive on offense and it had been paying off, then before half time we got very conservative. I could be wrong on my numbers since I was stretching my neck to get a good view but was just wondering what you guys were thinking at this time.
ONCE A DAWG, ALWAYS A DAWG, HOW SWEET IT IS!
Georgia was at its own 21 and there were 51 seconds until halftime. Dogs ran one play (a 6-yard gain by Caleb King) and then retired to the locker room.
I believe the thinking was to play it safe since UGA would get the ball to start the second half. Of course, that didn't happen when Auburn pulled off the onside kick.
My opinion is it's too easy to second-guess there. Had UGA thrown a pick six or had a fumble on a sack of Murray (who wasn't being protected very well all game), people would have been furious.

Ok so my numbers were off I thought they were a little closer, thanks for the fast reply G
I think if we would have gotten a better return on that kickoff, maybe we would have tried to get some points. I will say that Georgia was up 21 to 7 in the second quarter and we started playing conservative. AJ was killing their db's and we didn't even target him in the second quarter. We went away from what was working and tried to run the ball. We know it was going to be a track meet and we took off our track shoes 1/4 of a mile into the race.
