The week that was
Mississippi State 45, Arkansas 14 (at Starkville)
Auburn 51, Alabama A&M 7 (at Auburn)
LSU 41, Ole Miss 35 (at Baton Rouge)
Vanderbilt 41, Tennessee 18 (at Nashville)

The big result
The biggest results for the SEC this weekend came elsewhere, with upset losses for Kansas State and Oregon pushing Alabama, Georgia, Florida and others two steps closer to the BCS championship game.

The big story
Less than 24 hours after a humbling loss to rival Vanderbilt, Tennessee moved on Derek Dooley, firing the coach after another losing season in Knoxville. So that's now Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee (and counting) looking for head coaches in the SEC right now.

The heartstopper
LSU fought back in the fourth quarter to survive a spirited upset bid from Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon, prompting these classic postgame comments from Les Miles.

Trending up
If Alabama beats Auburn and Georgia beats Georgia Tech, the Tide and Dawgs will play in Atlanta for a spot in the BCS title game.

James Franklin pointed all year to the Tennessee game, and his team was ready, delivering what was one of the biggest wins in school history.

Trending down
Tough loss in a tough season Saturday for Missouri, which dropped to 5-6 and now has to beat Texas A&M this week to reach a bowl game.

Ouch. Saturday's loss was so bad it probably would have cost Dooley his job even if the Vols had won a few of those close games this season.
