Morning Coffee: Best sports movies?

Wednesday, December 5

Gene Hackman in "Hoosiers," a classic film.

Going way off topic for this morning's coffee and drawing your attention to this link from

They've listed the Top 20 all-time sports movies.

For those who don't want to click, here they are ...

Field of Dreams
Raging Bull
Hoop Dreams
The Wrestler
The Damned United
The Fighter
This Sporting Life
Friday Night Lights
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Breaking Away
Chariots of Fire
The Bad News Bears
The Hustler

I'll admit that I haven't seen all of these. Some additions were obvious, like "Rocky" and "Hoosiers." Nice job adding others like "The Damned United" and "The Bad News Bears" in my opinion. And "Hoop Dreams" is one of the best sports documentaries I've ever seen.

But there were some glaring absences here, most notably "The Natural" and/or "Bull Durham."

Your thoughts?
