UGA targeted 19 from Penn State

ATHENS, Ga. -- UGA's football staff notified Penn State of its intent to contact 19 current student-athletes on the Nittany Lions' team following NCAA sanctions allowing transfer without penalty for PSU players.

As advised by NCAA bylaws, UGA director of compliance Steve Flippen on Monday e-mailed Penn State associate athletic director for compliance Matt Stolberg with the Bulldogs' formal notification, a document obtained by Dawgs247 through open records laws.

UGA's list of 19 players (below) included Penn State running back Silas Reed, wide receiver Justin Brown, defensive lineman Jordan Hill and four members of Penn State's 2012 signing class: WRs Trevor Williams and Eugene Lewis, DL Jamil Pollard and DB DaQuan Davis.

Of the above list, Amos, Barnes, Brown, Hill, Hodges, Jones, Lewis, Mangiro, Massaro, Mauti, Smith, Stankiewitch and Zordich are all believed to have confirmed intentions to stay at Penn State since Monday's sanctions were announced.

Very soon after this report appeared Friday afternoon, Mark Richt released a statement through UGA Sports Communications that said the following ...

"Currently, Georgia is not pursuing any of Penn State's football players. We wish Coach O'Brien and the players the best."
